Contribution to Policy Paper Writing: Incentivising Private Sector Investment in Climate Adaptation in Malaysia

Ms Cheng Xin Hui has contributed to the Climate Finance Summit 2025 under the Research and Programme subunits, where she helped shape the summit's discussion direction and content. Her work involved crafting key sessions, including Panel Session 3, which examined Malaysia's widening climate finance gap, the need for localised solutions, diversified partnerships, private sector engagement, and indigenous community inclusion. She also contributed to the Fireside Chat, which addressed equity challenges facing ASEAN nations, broken promises from developed countries, insufficient adaptation funding, and the responsibilities of governments within the global climate finance system.

On top of that, Ms Cheng also contributed to developing the summit's policy paper as the key researcher for the paper. The paper emphasises aligning adaptation projects with suitable investors, identifying capital recovery mechanisms, and grounding implementation in strong local governance and context-specific strategies.

The summit forms part of an ongoing effort to translate research outcomes into actionable policy insights through stakeholder engagement. Ms Cheng's voluntary contribution helped strengthened her capacity to deliver evidence-based recommendations in Malaysia.
