HoPES Researchers Showcase Quality-Driven Approach to Carbon Credit Trading at SPIL2026

Ms. Adeline Tan Shu Ting from HoPES recently participated in SPIL 2026, the 10th Sustainable Process Innovation and Modelling Conference jointly with The 3rd International Conference on Cleaner Energy and Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Circular Economy (CLE-SCE 2026), where she presented her research titled “Pinch Analysis for Quality-Constrained Carbon Trading.” The presentation highlighted an innovative framework aimed at improving decision-making in carbon credit trading by incorporating carbon credit quality alongside economic considerations.
In her presentation, Ms. Adeline discussed how carbon credits have become an important mechanism for hard-to-abate industries to offset emissions. The study introduced a quality-driven pinch analysis framework that incorporates a parameter known as the Climate Repair Value (CRV) to evaluate the durability and permanence of carbon credits. The framework aims to support more informed and sustainable carbon trading decisions by helping stakeholders prioritize high-quality carbon credits within limited budgets, while also providing insights into carbon credit pricing and investment strategies.
Her participation in the conference reflects HoPES’ continued commitment to advancing sustainability research and contributing to ongoing discussions on climate action, carbon management, and sustainable development through innovative analytical approaches.
